But hopefully never again with the crowd at Joe's Pub.
This is not going to be a regular review... I am gonna cuss like a wanton sailor because:
Y'all motherfuckers SUCKED ASS.
St. Juste and J*Davey got up on the stage and did their fucking duties and as I looked around the room, all I saw was lame cocksmokers sitting on their collective asses. I had to wonder, "are these motherfuckers hearing the same shit I am?" because I was up out of my seat bouncing around, mad that I had chosen to sit close to the bar (alkies do that sometimes), snapping pictures like a maniac. I mean come on, even if the crowd wasn't familiar with the music, they could have at least shown a little more enthusiasm.
Now let me keep it real: Juste is my girl and I've had first hand experience with her raw power. Her personality is bigger than life and I think short of those of us who were familiar with her work, everyone was just not ready. I saw a little spark of life when she launched into "The Game" and I wished that it wasn't the end of her set. Alas, she was the opening act and her time was up by that time. Still and all my chick got up there and she gave the licks, runs, truth and sweat that it takes to perform. She gets my utmost respect.
Now let me keep it really real: I don't know J*Davey like that but the crickets in the room were fucking mind boggling! I mean seriously, Juste was an end of the game addition as an opener so I can kind of understand the semi-blah reaction to her dope ass voice but come on, these dipshits that stood they ass outside on line (a good 45 minutes at that) and paid 15-kissmyass-dollars came for J*DAVEY!!! And then they bought some overpriced pretentious fuckin drinks and acted like they were too good to give the girl a reaction during "Lazy Days".... you niggas can't be serious. "No More" is one of the sexiest songs out right now, (hell, I had to put my baby up on it - *smirk* go get the cd if you want me to keep my promise...) and no one even flinched. It was fuckin rediculous.
I sincerely hope that neither St. Juste or J*Davey have to go through that bullshit again. As a professional asshole, which I have somewhat turned into an art, I would rather be booed than not elicit any emotion at all.
To those that got up, snapped their fingers, clapped, bobbed their heads, moved their asses and grinned like vapid blonds - I'll party with y'all any night, y'all felt history in the making right along with me.
Everyone else that sat there, too cool for school, can go suck elephant dick.
Word up.
And just to prove I ain't buggin the fuck out expressing how I felt about the night, go check out the feelings of fellow music lovers posting on this AfroPunk forum thread. No bullshit.
